Sega announces Mega Drive Mini for Japan

2018 is going to be a good year for Sega's fans. At the news of Sega Fes 2018 we learned for the arrival of the Shenmue and the Shenmue II for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.

During the event, the Japanese company announced the launch of the Mega Drive Mini for Japan and revealed that the Sega Age game line will debut on Nintendo Switch with a series of classic games previously released on Master System and Mega Drive.

Mega Drive Mini is Sega's way of commemorating the 30th anniversary of the 16-bit console that in the United States was named Genesis. This mini version of Mega Drive will be available during 2018 in Japan and for the moment it is unknown when (or if) an international launch will take place. We also do not know the quality of its hardware, what games it will include or its characteristics.

Until now Sega had tried to take advantage of the Nintendo's NES Classic Mini and SNES Classic Mini by licensing its hardware with no good results to fulfill the fans with the nostalgic touch, like Nintendo did.

No details yet, but at first glance Mega Drive Mini does seem like the bet that everyone expected; a small, quality device manufactured by Sega.
