I already wrote an article on how we can connect an original PS3 controller to our PC. But let's see how we can connect a non-original PS3 controller to our PC.
The test was done on a MadCatz wireless controller and Windows 8.1 64bit.
First, download the necessary drivers and unpack them. Now go to the new folder and run the file "libusb-win32-filter-bin-0.1.10.1". When is done, put the controller (or the adapter, if it's wireless) on the PC, and if Windows recognizes it, wait for the process to finish.
Then run the file "ps3sixaxis_en" (only once, you do not need to run it again) and press the "PS" key on your controller to get started.
Our controller is now ready for use with the computer. The difference between this method and the older one (in the previous guide) is that it is too simple to install/set up our controller.
Now go to the control panel to see if your control is recognized by Windows.
Right-click on the above icon and then se;ect properties to enter the menu below, from where you can test if everything is working correctly:
The controller is now ready and can be used everywhere. Below is the N64 emulator (Project64):
